Excavation complete for CIEMAS

December 1, 2001

The excavation has been completed for the east and west buildings of the Center for Interdisciplinary Engineering, Medicine and Applied Sciences, Pratt facilities director Mike Gunter reports.

He said concrete for walls and columns are being poured in the northeast building basement area and the first of two cranes has been deployed. Gunter said the elevator pits and under slab drainage trenches have been cleared and footings for the west building tower crane also are being poured.

"The recent rains that we've had have caused some minor delays but the project is still on schedule," Gunter reported. The 322,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in August 2004. Excavation began in May.
