Presenter

Ken Hansen, President and CEO of Semiconductor Research Corporation

For over 35 years, Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) has funded over $2B in university pre-competitive research in semiconductor related fields. SRC along with its members have defined relevant research necessary to attack and remove technical roadblocks facing the semiconductor industry while advancing the state-of-the-art. With SRC's academia, industry and government partners, SRC repeatedly has produced ground breaking research results tackling the most intractable challenges that has contributed substantially to the fulfilment of Moore's Law. Furthermore, this partnership has accelerated the transition from research results in the lab to commercialization while helping to create the next generation leaders. In the history of the semiconductor industry, there has been no other period in time as there is today with as much uncertainty in the way forward. However, this uncertainty presents a great opportunity for breakthrough research. This talk will identify some of the challenges the industry is facing and the research agenda being pursued to address these challenges. As we look into the future, it is certain that SRC will be there taking the lead through continued investment in university research creating opportunities for industry renewal.
