Letter from the Chair

Dear colleagues,

The earth’s changing climate is an increasingly urgent problem—one which requires the contributions of scientists from every discipline, including electrical and computer engineering.

Here at Duke, our engineers are stepping up to the plate with new approaches for sustainable transistor design and manufacturing. Our faculty are also using their programming savvy and AI tools to get a peek under the canopy of tropical rainforests, to catalogue—and hopefully preserve—biodiversity.

You can also see how Duke Engineering is centering the Southeast in the push to reinvigorate our nation’s semiconductor industry, meet our newest faculty members, and learn how Duke ECE research is thriving, in this year’s magazine.

With warm regards,

Hai Li
